 What is the purpose of baptism?

Baptism is significant in that it represents the forgiveness and cleansing from sin that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism publicly acknowledges one's confession of faith and belief in the gospel message. It also symbolizes the sinner's entrance into the community of believers. 

The timing of baptism can vary among different Christian denominations and theological perspectives. However, there are some common themes and beliefs across many branches of Christianity regarding when a believer should be baptized:

• Profession of Faith: In many Christian traditions, baptism follows a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This means that individuals should be baptized when they have reached a point in their spiritual journey where they have made a conscious decision to follow Jesus and have accepted Him into their lives.
